ISOBOARD Cavity Wall Insulation Cavity wall insulation will prevent heat transfer and build-up to the inner leaf of sun-exposed walls. Moisture within the cavity is prevented from condensing onto and penetrating through the inner leaf when ISOBOARD® is installed. The insulation restricts heat ingress to temperature-controlled and passive-cooled environments. Generally 30mm ISOBOARD® will be effective in dwellings and 40/50 mm in temperature-controlled buildings. Typical uses for ISOBOARD in this application Residential buildings designed for comfort and energy efficiency. Cold storage applications Designs functioning with a minimum of mechanical cooling i.e.passive-cooled building systems. Agricultural, pharmaceutical, medical and commercial applications with temperaturecontrolled environments requiring stable internal temperatures. Site Handling Instructions Handle and install with care to prevent damage to board edges. Store boards flat within original packaging until required. Boards are to be protected from adverse weather conditions and direct sunlight for the storage period. ISOBOARD® is readily cut to length on site using a sharp blade or hacksaw to fit closely to door and window frames. Application Guide The recommended cavity wall installation method for ISOBOARD®. Walls are constructed, leading with the initial 1.4m of inner leaf containing the first two rows of wall ties, spaced 600mm apart. Space the cavity ties (to building code standards), with holding back ties in between, to be embedded as per building standards. Board support ties to be 2mm galvanised wire with fish-tail ends.Excess mortar to be cleaned from the cavity face of the leading leaf. The initial two rows of ISOBOARD® sheets are placed on edge against the leading leaf with shiplap joint installed such as to shed moisture away from the inner leaf, or with tongue facing upwards and secured with the holding back ties. A run of boards may commence below a damp-proof course level to provide some edge insulation for the floor. ISOBOARD® can be placed in a potentially damp position without losing thermal performance in the long term. Construct the outer leaf taking care to keep the residual cavity clean and secure the cavity ties. Please note that the construction of a cavity wall with insulation requires competent supervision, to ensure that the cavity is cleaned and the cavity ties properly secured. ISOBOARD® is readily trimmed on site using a sharp blade or hacksaw to neatly notch board edges around wall ties and fit snugly around window and door frames.
